“I am really in love with the existing house and excited that it’s going to be saved,” says Keith Summerour, award winning architect and president of Summerour & Associates.

The 1920’s historic house at Kalmia View has the “good bones” that architects like Keith Summerour respect. He says it’s clean, European vernacular will serve as the inspiration for the three other homes on the site.

The scale of the new homes will also compliment the existing house.

“I’m finding that my clients don’t want the massive rooms anymore, but prefer something that’s appropriately scaled to humans – something you find in the great country estates of Europe.”

Summerour says Kalmia View’s unique location on the top of a hill will provide some wonderful design opportunities.

“All of these houses have the ability on one side or the other to open to the outside, so we're using rich materials on the exteriors, walkways and terraces, so that the homes at Kalmia View will be as beautiful on the outside as they are on the inside.”
